Admissions to TAG for Kindergarten through 4th Grade is handled by the New York City Department of Education, Office of Elementary School Admissions.
Fall 2026 Admissions Timeline*
Below are the application open, close, and offer release dates for each of the admissions processes. These dates are for students who are applying during the 2025-2026 school year for admission in the 2026-2027 school year.

For Children Interested in Kindergarten G&T Programs in Fall 2026
- Tuesday, December 9, 2025: Kindergarten Application Opens
- Friday, January 23, 2026: Kindergarten Application Closes
- Tuesday, March 31, 2026: Kindergarten Offer Release
For Children Interested in Grades 1, 2, 3, or 4 G&T Programs in Fall 2026
- Tuesday, April 21, 2026: G&T Upper Grade Application Opens
- Friday, May 8, 2026: G&T Upper Grade Application Closes
- Thursday, June 11, 2026: G&T Upper Grade Offer Release
For Children Interested in Grade 6 (Middle School) G&T Programs in Fall 2026
Below are the key dates for families applying during the 2025-2026 school year for admission to the 2026-2027 school year:
- Wednesday, October 15, 2025: Middle School Application Opens
- Friday, December 12, 2025: Middle School Application Closes
- Wednesday, April 15, 2026: Middle School Offer Release
- For screened programs, students are ranked based on a composite of their course grades on a 1-4 scale from fourth grade. Offers are made to ranked students by priority group and in ranking number order. If your child’s school does not use a 1-4 grading scale, for purposes of admissions to middle school only, the DOE converts grades to a 1-4 scale.
