The Talented and Gifted School for Young Scholars (TAG) is located in East Harlem. Founded in 1999 as an elementary school, and expanded in 2004 to include middle school. TAG serves students in grades K-8.
TAG is an un-zoned school that accepts applicants from all 5 boroughs. TAG is one of the five city-wide Talented and Gifted schools. Its population varies from year to year, but typically we educate about 560 students throughout K-8.
TAG shares its building with two other schools: Esperanza Preparatory Academy (grades 6-12) and PS 138 (a District 75 school). The schools function independently of one another, each with its own classrooms and hallways used only by its respective students and staff. School principals coordinate lunch times, assemblies, drop-off and dismissal, to ensure the safety of all students.
