Meet The Teacher/Curriculum Conferences

On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, TAG will be hosting our annual Meet The Teacher/Curriculum Conferences for Kindergarten through Eighth grade families.

There will be two separate sessions:

Afternoon: 3:00pm to 4:50pm

Evening: 5:05pm-6:20pm

* You only need to attend one session, as the information from the afternoon session will be repeated in the evening session.

School-aged children will be supervised in the auditorium during each of the sessions.

Please see the attached documents for specific details on the procedures for Kindergarten-Fourth Grades, Fifth – Sixth Grades, and 7th-8th Grades.

School Supply Drop of will begin on Monday, September 11!

We will begin accepting bulk school supplies on Monday, September 11.  We are unable to accommodate supply drop-off tomorrow, Thursday, September 7th or Friday, September 8th. 

Kindergarten parents will be allowed to bring school supplies with them on the first day, since they are invited into the building with their children on Thursday, September 7th.

Transportation for the 2017-2018 School Year

DOE-Provided Yellow Bus

  • Department of Education yellow bus service is provided to qualifying students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade only
  • If your child was provided yellow bus transportation by the Department of Education last year, service will continue starting the first day of school, Thursday, September 7, 2017
  • 7th and 8th grade students are not permitted on Department of Education yellow buses
  • If your child has never been offered Department of Education yellow bus service, they will not receive busing services until they have been approved by the Office of Pupil Transportation
  • If you have already completed a request for Department of Education yellow bus services at registration, you will receive notification of your request within 10 school days
  • Please do not complete another request
  • If you need to fill out a transportation request, please email Ms. Bruno, at MBruno3@schools.nyc.gov for the proper paperwork

Metrocards

  • If your child received a Metrocard last school year, they will receive one by Monday, September 11
  • If you completed an application for a Metrocard at registration, please do not complete another request
  • You will receive notification regarding your Metrocard request within 10 school days
  • If you need to fill out an application for a Metrocard, please email Ms. Bruno, at MBruno3@schools.nyc.gov

No one will be available in the main office to answer transportation related questions until after 9:30am.

6th Grade Orientation Rescheduled!

We will be holding an orientation workshop for all incoming 6th grade students on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 8:45am to approximately 12:30pm.  We will begin the program in the auditorium. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria at 8:30am, for those interested. The purpose of the orientation is to help provide a smooth transition to the middle school and to familiarize all incoming 6th grade students with the social and academic expectations of the TAG middle school.

Urgent: Parent Survey Deadline Extended

The 2017 New York City Department of Education School Survey deadline has been extended. The absolute last day to complete the survey is Friday, April 7th.

To those who have already completed the survey, we thank you.  For those who have not, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.  You can return the hard-copy of the survey to Ms. Bruno, or you can complete it online. Just go to the following link:

Last Chance! Online Participatory Budget voting deadline Sunday, April 2nd, 11:59PM

The deadline for online Participatory Budget voting is this Sunday, April 2nd, at 11:59pm.

TAG has a project which is included in City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito’s Participatory Budgeting ballot.  TAG’s project is part of a group project entitled, “Technology Upgrade for Three East Harlem Schools.”

If funded, our project will provide up to 5 new, full laptop carts for our classrooms. Residents of the following zip codes are eligible to vote for the project:
